In the area of local governance for the SDGs, our division aims at strengthening the capacities and skills of local government officials and other relevant stakeholders contributing to the advancement and the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the Sustainable Development Goals. Public governance at the local level, being the one closest to the people, is essential since it steers the government’s interaction with citizens, communities, and other stakeholders. The division focuses on assisting countries in: (i) strengthening institutional capacities for national to local coordination for integrated public service delivery (ii) developing new mindsets and capacities for innovation at the local level required to implement the SDGs, and (iii) capacities for local online service delivery, including strengthening of institutional framework, content provision, services provision, participation and engagement, and technology.
