Event Topic: Digital Government

Frontier technologies hold the potential to accelerate SDGs for Asia-Pacific countries with innovative policies, yet pose risks like the widening digital divides and regulatory challenges. Recently, countries are adopting policy experimentation and regulatory sandboxes, creating controlled spaces for governments and relevant stakeholders to trial digital innovations beyond existing regulatory frameworks.

In line with the theme of this APFSD, which focuses on reinforcing the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and eradicating poverty during times of multiple crises and aligning with this year's APFSD's emphasis on SDG 16 and SDG17, among others, this side event will disseminate the findings and outcomes of project implementation in three target countries, namely Bangladesh, Kazakhstan and the Maldives, on developing regulatory sandboxes on frontier technologies for sustainable development.
