Event Date:
Event Topic: Sound Policymaking, Transformational Leadership and New Mindsets to Implement the SDGs

UNDESA/DPIDG is finalizing a Curriculum on Governance for the Sustainable Development Goals. Its objective is to provide ready-to-use training material on key governance pillars needed to implement the 2030 Agenda. Within this context, two toolkits of the Curriculum, namely one on Changing Mindsets in Public Institutions and another on Institutional Capacities for Policy Coherence, are pilot tested in the Arab region. Through testing these Governance-specific toolkits, this Training Workshop aims at raising awareness and developing capacities among senior public officials from the Arab region on the need for effective institutional arrangements for holistic policy coherence in particular in the context of the development of COVID-19 response plans. It also aims at highlighting the importance of changing mindsets and key competencies needed for effective policy coherence. The training will feature guest speakers, interactive activities, group discussions and innovative practices for peer-to-peer learning. Furthermore, this workshop provides the opportunity to receive the participants’ feedback and input on these toolkits and to ascertain Member States’ demands for follow-up capacity development on these issues at the national level. The Online Training Workshop will take place on 26 and 28 January and 2 and 4 February 2021 8-10am EST each day and is organized by UNDESA in cooperation with UN Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (UN ESCWA).
