This compendium, prepared by the Division for Public Institutions and Digital Government (DPIDG) of the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UN DESA), aims to capture emerging trends in digital responses of UN Member States against the COVID-19 pandemic along with other digital government initiatives and provide a preliminary analysis of their main features. These cases are shared for exchange of information so that Member States can learn from each other and possibly create new partnerships.

The Entrepreneur’s Desk, which is the Point of Single Contact for businesses available in ePortugal, was updated to reflect the suspension of tacit approval periods. The suspension is expected to continue until June 30, however its termination may be anticipated or extended depending on the evolution of the situation. With this measure, the counting of deadlines for procedures that provide for tacit approval is suspended, and this will resume when the suspension ends. Also noteworthy is the ongoing collaboration with Turismo de Portugal and the Directorate-General for Economic Activities in providing a service for Accomodation and Restaurants, under the “Clean & Safe” initiative. The aim is that economic promoters / operators can declare that their establishments are COVID-free and compliant with all the rules defined by the Directorate-General for Health.
