This compendium, prepared by the Division for Public Institutions and Digital Government (DPIDG) of the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UN DESA), aims to capture emerging trends in digital responses of UN Member States against the COVID-19 pandemic along with other digital government initiatives and provide a preliminary analysis of their main features. These cases are shared for exchange of information so that Member States can learn from each other and possibly create new partnerships.

Environmental awareness means that the environmental perspective is taken into consideration in decision making and the selection of products and services.
Environmental education supports individuals and communities to develop their values, knowledge, skills and activities in compliance with sustainable development. Such education helps to strengthen environmental awareness. Environmental education services are targeted at all age groups. In addition to information, people’s experiences, impressions and own activities are of key importance in growing environmental awareness. Daycare centres, schools and educational institutions advance environmental awareness
Educational organizations play important roles in advancing environmental awareness.
Environmental educators can obtain input and inspiration from nature schools and centres, courses, the Baltic Sea Challenge network and the Vihreä Lippu (green flag) programme.
