This compendium, prepared by the Division for Public Institutions and Digital Government (DPIDG) of the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UN DESA), aims to capture emerging trends in digital responses of UN Member States against the COVID-19 pandemic along with other digital government initiatives and provide a preliminary analysis of their main features. These cases are shared for exchange of information so that Member States can learn from each other and possibly create new partnerships.

The green streets
In green streets, car traffic is absent or calmed, in order to give priority to pedestrians and soft mobility. People are also encouraged to take part in the project. The City may rely on a diverse variety of developments that are location-specific, as well as the strengthening of the plant presence:
tree plantation ;
installation of pavers with grass joints (let the grass grow between the pavers);
partial revegetation of sidewalks by creating “grassy streaks” in the asphalt;
shallow cutting of the sidewalk at the foot of the building to create a strip of earth along the facades;
creation of green walls with climbing plants;
installation of wooden planting boxes.
