This compendium, prepared by the Division for Public Institutions and Digital Government (DPIDG) of the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UN DESA), aims to capture emerging trends in digital responses of UN Member States against the COVID-19 pandemic along with other digital government initiatives and provide a preliminary analysis of their main features. These cases are shared for exchange of information so that Member States can learn from each other and possibly create new partnerships.

Each citizen can download the free mobile app Virusafe and use it to share his/her health status with the National Operational Staff, the health authorities and the general practitioner. The objective of this app is to provide all residents in the Republic of Bulgaria with the opportunity to contribute to the fight against the spread of the Virus by uploading their data and giving daily information on their condition. The app is available at Google Play Store and Apple Store. All citizens can willingly enter their data and be included in the statistics. Chronic diseases and symptoms for the disease can also be uploaded. Thus, the general practitioners have up-to-date information on the current condition of their patients. The users of the app are informed on the way their data is used.
