This compendium, prepared by the Division for Public Institutions and Digital Government (DPIDG) of the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UN DESA), aims to capture emerging trends in digital responses of UN Member States against the COVID-19 pandemic along with other digital government initiatives and provide a preliminary analysis of their main features. These cases are shared for exchange of information so that Member States can learn from each other and possibly create new partnerships.

Green-Schools, known internationally as Eco-Schools, is an environmental education programme run by An Taisce in partnership with local authorities. It promotes long-term, whole-school action for the environment.
An Taisce works to preserve and protect Ireland’s natural and built heritage. Taisce is an independent charitable voice for the environment and for heritage issues.
There are approximately 300 Dublin City Council schools registered with An Taisce Green-Schools. Many of them have already achieved Green-School status and proudly fly the Green Flag outside their school.
Green-Schools, known internationally as Eco-Schools, is coordinated by the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE). FEE’s programmes include: Eco-Schools, Young Reporters for the Environment, Learning About Forests (LEAF), Blue Flag and Green Key.
Eco-Schools is a fundamental initiative which encourages young people to engage in their environment by allowing them the opportunity to actively protect it. It starts in the classroom, it expands to the school and eventually fosters change in the community at large. Eco-Schools is currently operating in 62 countries worldwide with over 16 million students taking part.
Following the award of their first Green Flag for the Litter & Waste theme, schools renew their Green Flag award every two years by working on a new theme: Energy, Water, Travel, Biodiversity and Global Citizenship.
