The School Psychology Service of the City of Zurich (SPD) is an advice center for primary school pupils as well as for parents, teachers and school authorities. Our school psychologists work in seven branches in the school districts of the city of Zurich and are responsible for the care of a total of 34,500 students. The SPD advises and supports learning difficulties, behavioral problems and school career issues. The services of the SPD are free for parents.
In addition to the discussions, test procedures are also used and school visits are made, depending on the question. School psychologists moderate school discussions and make recommendations on the need for support or therapy. If children and young people are supported by different professionals, they can take over the coordination.
In compliance with official and professional secrecy as well as data protection, the school psychologists work together with other specialists: School curative education, speech therapy, (school) social work, pediatric and youth psychiatric practices or services, school medical service.
The School Psychology Service is a service department of the School Health Services in the School and Sports Department of the City of Zurich.
