Regulatory Sandbox Pilot Program

The Bank of Sierra Leone (BSL) seeks to provide a regulatory environment that is conducive for the deployment of new and innovative financial technologies (FinTech) and business models in Sierra Leone, with support from the MM4P programme of the United Nations Capital Development Fund (UNCDF) and Financial Sector Deepening Africa (FSDA). They are launching the Sierra Leone FinTech Challenge, and winners will be provided access to regulatory sandbox and financial support US$ 100,000 to pilot their
product. The sandbox is intended to facilitate BSL’s understanding of emerging technologies and support evidence-based approaches to regulation that advance the goals of financial inclusion, financial stability, integrity and consumer protection, and finally foster responsible innovation that benefits consumers in Sierra Leone by improving the quality of, and access to, financial products and services. Applicants will be charged an application fee of SLL 100,000.
