This regulatory sandbox is designed to find innovative solutions for the energy future. MA would like to use the regulatory sandbox approach to encourage more experimentation in the electricity and gas sectors and assess the impact of new products and services so that promising innovations can be tested in the market and have a chance for wider adoption in Singapore and abroad. This sandbox also complemented the Energy Research and Development (R&D) initiatives, by providing a platform for R&D projects to be tested on a broader scale in Singapore. SP Power Assets company initiated a pilot that implemented the use of an energy storage system for residential peak load shifting applied. The project started in November 2018 and is expected to exit the sandbox in October 2021.
