The Division for Public Institutions and Digital Government (DPIDG) of UN DESA organized a bilingual (English/French) capacity development workshop on “The Future of Governance and New Mindsets, Knowledge, and Competencies fit for the 21st Century” for over 30 participants representing local and regional authorities, as well as training institutes of 25 African countries. The workshop was organized 10 – 12 December 2024 within the context of the 8th Edition of the African Forum of Territorial Managers and Training Institutes (FAMI) organized under the High Patronage of His Majesty the King Mohammed VI of Morocco. The capacity development workshop helped to enhance participants’ understanding of the current context and drivers of change that might influence the future of governance, and the capacities needed to promote anticipatory governance in the areas of digital and data governance, innovation, strategic foresight, and mindsets needed to navigate the 21st century. Through in-person and online presentations, and interactive sessions and exercises, the workshop examined strategies to promote these mindsets through changes in various sectors at the individual, organizational, and institutional levels. Workshop participants made commitments to apply lessons learned during the workshop. This webinar will be an opportunity for workshop participants to share challenges and opportunities faced in the implementation of the commitments they made during the workshop.
