The Environmental Development Department counts with the Task Force on Environmental Education (ETEA) formed by a group of interdisciplinary workers, which by prioritizing public spaces, takes on the task of creating new opportunities for reflection, participation and citizen commitment with the environment and natural resources to generate an environmentally sustainable city.
They also carry out, among other activities, contests that invite young people to reflect on the subject and contribute from creativity and teamwork.
EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS AND CONTESTS
Every year the ETEA carries out programs that seek to generate educational spaces for the exchange of experiences on the main current environmental conflicts and how each of us can collaborate in their resolution and in the preservation of the environment.
Focus: Your environment counts, show it In order to promote environmentally friendly behavior and encourage reflection and critical thinking on topics of social interest, we held an audiovisual contest aimed at students from UTU, public and private high schools in Montevideo.
A photo makes the future
This is a photographic production contest aimed at students from UTU, public and private high schools of Montevideo, which seeks to promote care and reflection on the preservation of the different public spaces of the city, such as squares, parks, public spaces and recreational spaces, transportation, and natural resources such as rivers, streams, ravines, among others.
“Animaeducativa”
It is a program aimed at public and private schools that seeks reflection and discussion of environmental issues through the creation of animations in order to form a critical and participatory spirit in children.
Summer Plan
This program consists of carrying out a series of educational outings with the aim of touring most of the Montevideo coastline, highlighting places of importance either for their historical, cultural or environmental value.
Vermicomposting in schools
We have a program to promote vermicomposting, a practice that allows us to reduce, reuse and recycle organic waste that is discarded in institutions or at home, such as yerba, tea, coffee, fruit or vegetable peels; generating earthworm humus as a product.
