1st Preparatory Meeting & Stocktaking Session

The first preparatory meeting for the WSIS+20 General Assembly overall review will take place on 30 May 2025 from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at United Nations Headquarters in New York. This meeting will provide an opportunity to hear views from Member States and observers on expectations for the WSIS+20 outcome and process. The session will also serve as a basis for the preparation of an elements paper to inform subsequent steps in the intergovernmental process.

Guiding questions:

To what extent and how has the vision of a "people-centred, inclusive and developmentoriented Information Society" evolved over the past 20 years since WSIS?
What are the priorities and challenges to the implementation of WSIS outcomes today?
How can cooperation through the WSIS mechanisms, including multistakeholder dialogue and recently adopted the Global Digital Compact, enhance coherence in digital governance?
