In November 2014, Singapore launched its "Smart Nation" plan and vision. This initiative is built on three pillars: the digital economy, digital government, and digital society. To support these areas, Singapore developed the Digital Economy Framework for Action, the Digital Government Blueprint, and the Digital Readiness Blueprint. The first Digital Government Blueprint was released in June 2018 by the Smart Nation and Digital Government Group (SNDGG), followed by a second edition in December 2020. Its vision is to create "A Government that is Digital to the Core, and Serves with Heart." To achieve the goals of a digital government, Singapore outlined six key strategies: 1. Integrating government services to meet the needs of citizens and businesses. 2. Aligning policy, operational practices, and technology to create seamless governance. 3. Transforming ICT infrastructure within government. 4. Improving system reliability, security, and adaptability. 5. Enhancing public servants’ digital capabilities to foster innovation. 6. Collaborating with citizens and businesses to encourage technology adoption. These strategies focus on strengthening digital support through enhanced infrastructure and platforms, better data resources, and robust cybersecurity. The government also aims to use digital applications to empower city management, improve social governance, and provide comprehensive public services, solidifying Singapore's position as a leading smart city globally. Under the "Smart Nation" plan and the Digital Government Blueprint, Singapore has achieved 99% end-to-end digital services and reached several key milestones, leveraging technology to offer innovative services to citizens, businesses, and government agencies. Key initiatives include MyInfo, which simplifies personal information management, and LifeSG, which provides citizens with a comprehensive range of services throughout their life stages. For businesses, platforms like InnoLeap foster innovation, while GoBusiness streamlines access to government resources, and SGFinDex help people facilitate more effective financial planning. The government benefits from enhanced digital tools such as FormSG and the Smart Nation Sensor Platform, which enable efficient governance and real-time monitoring of city data. Overall, Singapore's Smart Nation plan exemplifies a holistic approach to digital development, ensuring technology is leveraged to improve the lives of its citizens, boost economic productivity, and create a smarter, more responsive government.
