The Follow-up WSIS+20 Informal Stakeholder Consultation Session will be held as part of the ongoing WSIS+20 Review process. It follows several key milestones, including the First Preparatory Meeting and Stocktaking Session, the Informal Interactive WSIS Stakeholder Consultation facilitated on behalf of the UN General Assembly, as well as stakeholder consultations conducted during the 20th Internet Governance Forum (IGF) in Norway and the WSIS+20 High-Level Event 2025 in Geneva.
This upcoming session will be conducted virtually and follow a multistakeholder format. It aims to provide a unified platform for non-Government stakeholders and Member States to present their contributions to the Elements Paper and provide additional insights relevant to the WSIS+20 Review. Participants are especially encouraged to share brief summaries of their written inputs, organized according to the thematic areas outlined in the Elements Paper. All interested participants are encouraged to attend. Advance registration is required by 23 July, and registrants must indicate if they wish to speak during the session.
The session will be co-facilitated by H.E. Ms. Suela Janina, Permanent Representative of Albania, and H.E. Mr. Ekitela Lokaale, Permanent Representative of Kenya. The final speaker list will be determined by the Co-Facilitators, taking into account balanced representation across stakeholder groups, and will be published in advance. Each speaker will be allotted up to three minutes for their intervention.
If time permits, participants who indicated an interest in speaking but were not included in the initial speaker list may be invited to take the floor before the session concludes. Written statements from registered speakers are also encouraged and will be published on the WSIS+20 webpage maintained by UN DESA/DPIDG.
